Both Boutique & Music: Vinyl Record Bar & Cafe

Both Boutique & Music is the brainchild of Prism Design, a renowned design team led by Creative Director Tomohiro Katsuki and Designer Masanori Kobayashi. The concept behind the design is to explore the contrast between light and dark, old and new, and static and dynamic. By embracing these contrasts, Both Boutique & Music aims to create a space that brings people together through positive experiences.

The boutique spans 370 square meters, while the music store occupies 170 square meters across two levels. Both spaces serve as a bridge between cultures, bringing in goods from around the world and showcasing them in a visually stunning environment. The design reflects the action of traversing the globe while maintaining a distinct style.

Both Boutique & Music not only offers a unique shopping experience but also fosters interaction among local residents. By integrating with the surrounding art park, the design encourages exchanges and connections within the community.

The project commenced in January 2015 and was completed in September of the same year. Both Boutique & Music officially opened its doors to the public in September 2015. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges such as understanding the preferences of Red Town's users, considering operational flow, adhering to local laws and regulations, and incorporating sustainable practices. These challenges were overcome by using specialty materials from the region, creating efficient operation flow lines, incorporating artificial and creative natural elements, and collaborating with the local Design Institute.

Both Boutique & Music's innovative design and attention to detail have earned it recognition in the industry. In 2016, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the design's excellence, innovation, and ability to evoke positive emotions and wonder.
